There are so many fabulous locations for weddings in Nova Scotia; the Cape Breton Highlands, White Point Beach, Oak Island and of course right here in Halifax. The majority of weddings I photograph take place in our fair city. I’ve often photographed old architecture, the lush Public Gardens and the crashing sea lined coast all at one wedding. Not many places have that much photographic potential – in my opinion anyway.
My first opportunity to work with April and Chris was during their engagement session. We trekked down along the coast and found a beautiful rocky shoreline and a dilapidated old building that just doesn’t want to fall down. I found this to be a wonderful symbol of longevity and strength, both are very important in a marriage of course. What a perfect element to add to an engagement photo! Chris and April were fun and adventurous that day and again on their wedding day. We started the formal photos at Flemming park and used the Dingle tower as an architectural element in the first set of photos. Then we moved on to the Saraquay Club with it’s tree lined property and spectacular harbor view. Now after 2 hours of photos most people just want to sit down and eat supper, but not April and Chris! I didn’t even have to beg them to run down to the dock and grab a few sunset lit photos! I totally love these guys!
